Correctly interpret star-shaped cracks on tomatoes
Tomato plants prefer a constant consistency in their water and nutrient supply. Rashes in one direction or the other cause fruits to burst, with the damage being revealed in this case in a star shape.
It doesn't get that far if you water tomato plants as evenly as possible. As soon as the surface of the earth dries, it is poured. Strong drying out and correspondingly intensive watering causes the unsightly cracks on the tomato peel.
A sudden increase in the amount of fertilizer has an even more dramatic effect. If the supply of nutrients soars, the fruits grow faster than the skin. Much better is an even application of compost as soon as the cultivation is finished. As flowering begins, gradually increase the dosage. In this way, you will effectively prevent the star-like cracks on tomatoes.
Circular jumps require immediate action
If the peel of tomatoes bursts in circles, this indicates that the sunlight is too intense. This damage occurs in particular if too large a number of leaves have been removed, for example when pruning. There is therefore a lack of sufficient shade. The best thing to do is to bring out a large parasol right away and protect the tomato plant from further sunburn.
