Ensure proper drainage
In every garden center you can get special citrus earth that is precisely tailored to the needs of lemons and oranges. Of course, you can also mix the soil yourself. For this you need peat, humus-rich garden soil and ripe compost. The various ingredients are mixed thoroughly in a ratio of 1: 1: 1. You should also add expanded clay to the substrate due to better drainage (€ 17.50 at Amazon *). These spheres ensure that waterlogging does not form in the substrate, but that sufficient water can be stored. For this reason, a layer of pebbles on the bottom of the pot is also advisable.
Tips & Tricks
Repot your lemon tree regularly, renewing the soil in the process. This allows your tree to grow well and also set a lot of flowers and maybe even fruits.
