Dig up in autumn and overwinter until spring
Before the first frost in autumn, the canna bulbs are dug up. If there is still soil on them, gently brush the tubers clean. If they look damp, you can leave them to dry for a few days.
How to continue with the tubers:
- Select a frost-free place (5 to 10 ° C)
- put in a box or pot with sand or earth
- Water lightly during the wintering so that tubers do not dry out
- advance from January / February
- Plant out from May
Tips & Tricks
When digging up, you shouldn't be too hasty. Do not dig up the tubers until the leaves of the canna plant have turned brown. The tubers first suck important nutrients out of them.
