Is the holly poisonous to humans?

In contrast to the tempting shining berries, the leaves have spines on the leaf edges as protection against predators. For the native birds, however, the fruits are a welcome food well into winter. For smaller pets, however, two or three berries can be a deadly meal.

Symptoms of poisoning by the holly:

  • Already possible when consuming 2 berries

Tips

Make sure that small children do not put holly berries in their mouths, they are really very poisonous. Even a few berries can be fatal for you.
