Where to plant on the balcony

The daisies look fine in a clay or terracotta pot or in company next to other balcony flowers such as geraniums and petunias. Balconies are ideal for them, they are located in a south-east to west-facing position.

They need a sunny to partially shaded location in order to thrive. Daisies tolerate wind and rain, which is why they can be planted in balcony boxes at the front of the railing.

Water abundantly and fertilize generously

On hot summer days, the soil in the planter dries out quickly. Therefore it is important to water abundantly, sometimes up to twice a day! The bale should not dry out, but at the same time not be exposed to stagnant moisture.

From April until the end of August, the daisies on your balcony are supplied with fertilizer. This is important so that the daisies can bloom for a long time. You can use long-term fertilizers, for example in stick form or liquid fertilizers.

Remove dead flowers every day

In summer you go to the balcony once a day to water the plants. This is also a good chance to cut off the old / withered flowers of the daisy. She thanks it with the fact that she is constantly developing new flowers and blooming until autumn.

Get in from the end of October

Many varieties are not winter hardy and in the pot there is a risk that the root ball will freeze and the plant will dry out (cannot absorb water). So if you want to continue enjoying your daisy next year, you should move it into a light and frost-free place from the end of October.

Tips

So that the marguerite does not lose its strength and vegetate, it should be repotted every year. On the occasion it can also be shared and thus increased.
