Before you start mowing work, you should strengthen yourself thoroughly. Cutting wet lawns is much more strenuous than cutting dry grass.

How to mow wet lawns properly

Once you have started the engine, please walk directly behind the lawnmower. If you step on wet blades of grass before cutting, they will not stand up for a long time and cannot be caught by the knives. If damp grass collects in the collecting basket, the weight increases rapidly so that the wheels sink in noticeably deeper. You should therefore take more breaks to empty the basket.

Wet clippings often get caught in the cutter bar. Do not wait until the engine stutters as a result. Turn off the mower, pull the spark plug cap, and remove the wet grass from the blades. Always tilt the mower so that the spark plug and air filter are facing up.

The setting to the maximum cutting height makes mowing noticeably easier in rainy weather. If you find the lawn too high at the end of the day, lower the wheels one step. Never cut the noble grasses shorter than 4 to 5 cm. Even in rainy weather, act according to the golden rule of one third: Cut off a maximum of one third of the leaf mass on lawn grasses.

Tips

Wet lawn is a particular strain for all components in the lawn mower. Therefore, clean the mower thoroughly after each use. Include the air filter, which can be cleaned in a few simple steps. Take this opportunity to take a look at the condition of the spark plug. You can remove black-brown deposits on the contacts with a brush.
