The principle of space-saving cultivation is one of the core ideas of permaculture - and more than suitable for cultivation on the balcony.
Don't throw anything away
The aim of permaculture is to use everything that is available and not to produce any waste. This can also be practiced on the balcony garden: Create a small, closed compost heap or worm farm, in which you dispose of leaves and dried up items as well as kitchen waste. In this way you not only dispose of your rubbish, but also produce valuable compost.
Promote biodiversity
Grow as many blooming plants as possible on your balcony to provide nectar for bees, bumblebees and other insects. Herbs are also suitable for this if you just let them bloom.
