How is pouring?
When it comes to water, when it comes to snapdragons, less is more. Water only when the top inches of the soil feel dry. Waterlogging must be avoided at all costs, as the plant is extremely sensitive to this. The snapdragon doesn't like lime either. You should therefore water with stale or, even better, rainwater.

How is fertilization done?
Mix ripe compost and horn shavings (€ 6.39 at Amazon *) into the substrate in spring. The snapdragon is frugal and does not need any further fertilizers. Potted plants, whose limited substrate quantity cannot store as many nutrients, are supplied with a commercially available liquid fertilizer every two weeks.
How is it cut?
In order to stimulate the bushy growth of the snapdragons, the shoot tips of the young plants are shortened by a few centimeters. If you do not want to harvest any seeds for the next year, what has flowered is cut off immediately so that the perennial quickly sets new flowers.
How is the snapdragon overwintered?
Depending on whether it is a hybrid or a “real” snapdragon, the plant is cut back and dug up in autumn or allowed to overwinter with the leaves. The plant is relatively hardy, normal winter protection from leaves and brushwood is sufficient.
Bugs and diseases
The snapdragon is occasionally attacked by aphids, sciarid gnats and other insect pests. These can be treated well with home remedies or commercially available insecticides.
In certain weather conditions there is a risk of powdery mildew or downy mildew. Remove affected parts of the plant immediately so that the fungus cannot spread. Both types of mildew can be controlled well with fungicides.
If the plant is exposed to waterlogging, there is a risk of root rot. There is no bloom, the leaves fade and the plant dies as a result. Moderate watering is the best prevention here. The plant is relatively hardy, normal winter protection from leaves and brushwood is sufficient.
Tips
If you leave some seed heads on the snapdragon, the plant will often collect itself and poach itself.
