Cut red and white currants
The bushes mainly bear berries on the two and three year old shoots. After the harvest, all branches that are more than three years old are cut.
Cut black currants
Most black currants grow on the annual branch branches. By shortening the main shoots, new branches are formed.
Maintenance cut in autumn
Remove all diseased and dry shoots and thin out the currants if necessary.
Tips & Tricks
When pruning currant shoots, do not leave stumps standing, but cut the branches as close to the base as possible.
