This is how soda cleans the moss-covered balcony
Housewives have sworn by the many benefits of soda for generations. If the classic is on the shelf, further cleaning agents are usually superfluous. Not only is the laundry spotlessly clean, the balcony is sparkling clean and free of moss. This is how it works:
- Buy pure soda or washing soda in the drugstore
- Dissolve the agent in warm water according to the manufacturer's dosage instructions
- Roughly scrape off the existing moss from the pavement, stone slabs or wooden floorboards with a spatula
- Spread the soda over it
- Let it take effect and scrub off

Although soda and baking soda are often mentioned in the same breath, there is still an important difference. Soda is sodium hydrogen carbonate, while the chemical name for soda is sodium carbonate. Anyone who is familiar with the secrets of chemistry knows that soda has a much more intense effect than cleaning agents. Soda, on the other hand, is useful as a baking ingredient or when you feel unwell.
When it comes to vinegar, there is little moss - this is how it works
Just as safely as vinegar removes mold, lime and dirt in the household, the agent removes moss on the balcony. The only requirement is that the substrate is not made of natural stone. Here vinegar would have undesirable side effects, such as stains or porous joints. You can either use wine vinegar or dissolve vinegar essence with water in a ratio of 2: 1. A few drops of lavender or eucalyptus oil create a pleasant scent.
The vinegar solution is poured into a hand sprayer and sprayed onto the moss-covered areas. The next day, you can scrub off the dead moss. The effect is enhanced if you manually remove any loose moss pads before using vinegar.
Tips
Applied in the lawn, iron fertilizer destroys the moss, at least for a short time. However, the agent is unsuitable for removing moss from the balcony, terrace or paved path. The poisonous ferrous sulfate it contains causes ugly stains on the floor.
