This is how an oak grows

The first bloom after 40 years

It can take 40 years for the first acorns to grow on an oak. The trees only carry significant amounts of acorns from the age of 60 to 80 years.

Oak trees grow slowly

While young trees can reach a height of two meters in the first four to five years, growth slows down with increasing age.

Old oaks only grow about four millimeters a year.

The fact that there are still English and sessile oaks with gigantic dimensions is due to the fact that the trees are between 400 and 800 years old and often even over 1,000 years old.

Tips

In contrast to the white oaks, red oaks, which are found in America, grow much faster. However, they do not reach the old age of English oak or grape oak.
