Could it be that your daffodils have been in place for a long time and have never been divided? If so, the reason is likely that too many side bulbs have formed. Too many of them in one place can quickly lead to a nutrient deficiency.

Preventive measures
Fundamentally decisive for a flowering daffodil is a location that is conducive to it. It should be planted in the sun or partial shade in nutrient-rich soil.
In addition to the location, maintenance is important. Daffodils in the pot must be repotted every year. They should also be fertilized before and after flowering. A liquid fertilizer is suitable for this. Last but not least, they should be regularly supplied with water (low in lime). It is important to avoid waterlogging.
Daffodils in the field should only be fertilized moderately. Compost is enough for them. The fertilizer is applied to the root area from the shoot and carefully raked under. The daffodils are dug up every 3 to 4 years. The daughter onions are separated and disposed of or planted elsewhere.
Measures in retrospect
In retrospect, transplanting or fertilizing will help many daffodils. If the daffodil fly is at work, the bulbs must be disposed of. In the case of a fungal disease such as onion basal rot, the infected daffodils should also be disposed of. Otherwise there is a risk that other daffodils will be affected by the fungal pathogen.
