Star magnolias stay comparatively small
Magnolia is not just magnolia, because some species grow more like trees and reach heights of six meters and more - and with age they also become almost as wide. The popular tulip magnolia in particular grows very tall, as do the Kobus magnolia and some varieties of the purple magnolia. At the same time, however, magnolias grow very slowly, so that such heights are likely to be expected for a newly purchased young plant in 15 to 20 years. An exception, however, are the always very small star magnolias (Magnolia stellata), which, depending on the variety, reach a maximum height of between 1.5 and 3 meters. This type is therefore also suitable for keeping in a bucket.

Tips & Tricks
With regard to the expected size, however, this is particularly important for refined magnolias and new varieties. The refinement usually takes place on the very large Kobus magnolia, which is why the actual height for the refinement cannot be predicted. Due to the lack of experience, this also applies to the new breeds among the magnolias, whereby you can orientate yourself on the parent varieties.
