Diving is better than pouring
The butterfly orchid thrives as a epiphyte plant in the rainforests of the tropics. Quick action is required here to extract the vital moisture from the short, heavy rain showers. After just a few minutes, the last tropics fell to the ground again. You simulate this natural process by diving Phalaenopsis. That is how it goes:
- If the aerial roots shimmer creamy white due to drought, watering is required
- Pour soft, lukewarm water into a bucket
- Dip the butterfly orchid in it
If no more air bubbles rise, let the water drain well. Only then do you put the plant back in the pot.
