The right location for ivy
Ivy that you want to care for inside needs above all a suitable location. The brightly colored varieties tolerate more light than the common ivy in the garden. But they only like direct sun to a limited extent. If the ivy is in the flower window, you need to protect it from the midday sun.

Water and fertilize regularly
When caring for a houseplant, you have to make sure that the soil is always a little moist. Waterlogging, however, is harmful. Always water the pot when the surface of the earth has dried. Make sure there is a sufficiently large drainage hole so that excess water can drain away.
If possible, pour lukewarm water. This is better for the ivy than water that is too cold.
In contrast to outdoors, ivy needs regular fertilization indoors. Commercially available liquid fertilizer is used for fertilization every 14 days from March to September. Give a little less fertilizer than recommended on the package. If the plant receives too many nutrients, the shoots will deteriorate and the plant will die.
Repot ivy annually
Give the ivy fresh soil every year. To do this, repot the plant in spring. Before repotting, cut them into shape. Incidentally, cutting is possible at any time.
Remove old soil completely and, if necessary, place the plant in a larger pot.
Wintering ivy inside
Room types are often not or only partially winter hardy. They are cultivated all year round at constant temperatures.
Do not place the pots close to radiators in winter. The earth then dries up too quickly.
Tips
Make sure that children and pets do not get near the ivy. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Inflammatory diseases can already occur with skin contact.
