Oleander inspires with long-lasting flowering

Do not cut off faded inflorescences

The five-fold flowers of the oleander always stand together in so-called cymes and are hermaphroditic - this means that the oleander does not need a second shrub for successful fertilization. The popularity of the oleander can be explained not only because of the wonderful delicacy and splendor of its flowers, but also because of its tireless bloom - the shrub, up to five meters high, blooms continuously between June and September. However, you should not cut off faded inflorescences, just pluck them off - the subsequent flowers are already at the tip of the umbel and would also fall victim to the scissors.

Tips

The term 'yellow oleander' is not only known for the real oleander, but also for the highly poisonous bell tree (Thevetia peruviana), which comes from the tropics.
