Appearance and stature

Aloe vera has a very short stem or no stem at all. Their leaves are arranged in a rosette. you are

  • thick-fleshed,
  • broad at the base,
  • tapering upwards,
  • thorny at the edges.

The red, yellow or orange flowers appear on the tall inflorescences annually in spring.

Pruning and propagation

A sexually mature aloe vera regularly forms new side shoots that can be used for reproduction. Cuttings can also be obtained from the outer leaves. The leaves can also be harvested regularly for internal and external use. New leaves are constantly growing back from the inside out.

Aloe aristata is particularly small-growing aloe. Aloe arborescens and Aloe ferox are extremely large-sized aloe species.
