How should strawberries be watered correctly?

How should strawberries be watered correctly?

You should pay attention to:

  • Water the strawberry plants abundantly and regularly
  • the surface of the earth should dry out slightly between watering
  • do not pour over flowers and leaves, but directly on the roots
  • water preferably in the early morning hours
  • never rain overhead and under blazing sun

Since strawberry plants prefer a location with a slightly acidic soil environment, collected rainwater is ideal for watering. Pond water or stale tap water also meet the requirements, thanks to the low lime content.

Bucket watering from the bottle

In the tub and flower box, the summer wind dries out the substrate much faster than in the garden soil. If you as a hobby gardener do not find the time to water your strawberry plants during the day, a simple trick with the water bottle can help. That is how it goes:

  • Pour water into an empty bottle
  • Turn it over and stick it next to the strawberry plants in the substrate
  • the roots are now continuously supplied
