Causes of green pond water
A green pond is the result of good algae management. The fine water plants inevitably form in every garden pond and are not bad at first. A moderate stock of algae also regulates itself naturally and hardly affects the pond's appearance. The water factor can hardly be eliminated in a garden pond. On the other hand, you can at least limit the solar radiation that heats up the water - if only by choosing the location of the pond and the shade plants in the neighborhood.

Countermeasures
In order to avoid green water in the pond, you should regularly remove any organic material that has been blown or washed in from the water with the kettle. The sludge layer that collects on the bottom of the pond, uses up oxygen and releases nutrients, should be removed with a pond sludge vacuum every now and then, especially after an algae bloom with thread algae.
Algae killers and UVC lamps, which clump the algae and make it easier to remove, provide acute, but only short-term help.
You can also replace all of the pond water, but you must ensure that the new water is of good quality and avoid the wash-in of new contaminants.
