Peel celery - this is how it works with a peeler or knife

These tips and tricks are used to peel celery

First of all, cut off the lower part of the plant so that you can take the individual stalks apart. Then wash the stalks under running water to remove any possible potting soil residue. Now cut off the bushy top leaves so that only the stems are left. You can use the leaves later for a soup or as a decoration.

Now take each rod individually between your thumb and forefinger and cut the top layer of skin from top to bottom with a sharp knife. However, this way you also remove a lot of tender meat.
If you use a vegetable peeler, thinner layers can be removed.
You can also try peeling the skin in narrow threads. To do this, cut into the skin at the top end of the rod and pull off the thread-like skin with the help of a knife and your thumb.
This way, the least of the tender vegetables will be lost.
Peel the celery stalk all around until all of the skin is removed.

Process celery stalks

After all the bars have been cleaned and peeled, you can nibble the delicious vegetables as raw vegetables, serve them in salads or cook them in soups or stews. The crunchy sticks are also suitable as a raw side dish to grilled food and are usually served with a spicy dip.

The upper, leafy part of the celery bush can be used in the kitchen to season and decorate dishes.

After you have cut this part off the bars, wash the fine leaves and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. Now you can lay out the leaves on a sheet or board and let them dry for a few days. This results in a supply of fine soup spices.
