Currant harvest time
- Harvest time begins at the end of June
- Blackcurrant season from mid-July
- End of harvest for all varieties at the end of August
White and red currants are usually ripe a few days earlier than black currants.
You can pick the first berries at the end of June. Newcurrants keep growing until August.
Harvest currants several times a week
Currants ripen very irregularly. You therefore have to harvest fresh berries several times a week.
Tips & Tricks
Don't let ripe currants hang on the bush for too long. Overripe berries lose a lot of their aroma. If too many fruits are ripe at once, freeze them. Currants cannot be stored for long.
