Store fresh parsley

Clean the parsley. Fold kitchen paper in several layers and moisten the paper. Beat in the parsley and place in a freezer bag. You can store the herb in the refrigerator for a maximum of two days.

Many consumers put chopped parsley in a water glass to keep it fresh. That is of little use. After a short time, the herb begins to wither. Almost nothing remains of the aroma.

Drying or freezing

Dried parsley almost completely loses its flavor. If given the opportunity, consider freezing parsley rather than drying it.

To dry, rinse the herb briefly and gently shake it out. Hang the parsley in bunches in an airy, but not too sunny place. The leaves are best cut to dry in the oven or dehydrator.

To freeze, pluck the cleaned leaves from the stems, cut them into small pieces and put them in freezer bags in the freezer. Parsley will keep there for several months.

Soak parsley in oil

Parsley that is soaked in oil does not spoil because the oil hermetically encloses the parts of the plant. The herb can be preserved for many months in this way.

Put the parsley stalks or just the leaves in a clean bottle and pour in enough oil to completely cover the herbs.

Tips & Tricks

Parsley ice cubes can be used wonderfully as a seasoning for hearty vegetable stews. To do this, cut a few parsley leaves, place them in the ice cube tray and pour hot water over them. After cooling, place the container covered in the freezer and let the cubes freeze.
