When are the fruits ripe?
The oval, dark green gherkins with the light colored speckles have reached their harvest size when they are about two to four centimeters long. If you pick them from the bush, they should taste aromatic cucumber-like and still be quite firm.
Fully ripe fruits fall off by themselves. However, the shell is then already relatively hard, which reduces the enjoyment.

The taste of Melothria Scabra is strongly reminiscent of cucumber with a pleasantly sour note.
Do the Mexican mini cucumbers need to be peeled?
The bowl is also eaten because it contains most of the flavoring substances. Due to its fine note, Melothria Scabra is the ideal snack cucumber that you can nibble directly from the plant.
