Mirabelle tree varieties - a delicious selection for you!

Mirabelle from Nancy

Let's start right away with the most famous and also the most popular variety. This French woman produces very small fruits, but in large quantities. Since the tree is very vigorous, it needs enough space to unfold. Since mirabelle trees are prone to some diseases, it is good to know that Nancy is resistant to the "incurable" sharka disease.

  • the fruits are almost spherical
  • yellow, with a slightly reddish color on the sunny side
  • sweet in taste, but moderately juicy
  • Harvest time begins in the second half of August

Mirabelle Bergthold

This old variety can give you slightly larger fruits. Sharka disease also has less chance of breaking out with her. It is one of the early ripening varieties. Here is more information about the round fruits:

  • golden yellow fruits with a reddish sunny side
  • medium-firm meat that softens quickly
  • sweet, with the typical aroma of mirabelle plums
  • is ripe about three weeks earlier than Nancy

Mirabelle Metzer

This medium-strong growing mirabelle tree also yields a rich harvest. But in contrast to the two varieties described above, its fruits are larger.

  • these fruits are also round and yellow
  • aromatic and sweet
  • give off a pleasant scent and are juicy
  • it can be harvested as early as July

Mirabelle Miragrande

What did the breeders want to offer us with this new variety? It looks like you've turned every “screw” a little. Here are the details:

  • wears from the second year
  • the yellow fruits are very large
  • juicy and aromatic
  • are ready to be enjoyed between the end of August and mid-September

Three other interesting varieties

The Bellamira variety is robust against Monila and Sharka disease and can be enjoyed from mid-August to mid-September. Its fruits are golden yellow and large with sweet, juicy but also firm flesh.

The mirabelle plum “Von Pillnitz” makes a lush harvest possible between August and September. The yellow fruits are very sweet and extremely aromatic. Their maximum size is given as 3 m. This makes it a good choice for small gardens.

As in the end, bring in another flavor nuance. The apricot mirabelle “Aprimira” tastes sweet and has a light apricot aroma. However, it needs a second pollinator variety in the garden.
