How to store grapes in an exemplary way

This way, grapes stay appetizing for up to 14 days

If the weather is good, the season for grapes extends from August to December. This applies equally to white, red and blue varieties. Since table grapes are non-climacteric fruits, they do not ripen. As a result, they are fully ripe to harvest and taste incomparably good when eaten fresh. If you can't eat your self-grown grapes at once, ideally store them like this:

  • Can be kept for 4-5 days in a fruit basket at room temperature
  • Put the fruit unwashed in a food storage bag or a Tupperware box
  • If stored in the refrigerator at 4-5 degrees Celsius, the shelf life is extended to 14 days

The grapes lose their aroma when cooled. Therefore, take the berries out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before consumption to wash them and bring them to room temperature for carefree enjoyment.

Grapes are stored in the freezer

The shelf life is extended to up to 6 months if you freeze grapes. Unlike many other types of fruit, grapes do not turn mushy after thawing. How to do it right:

  • Place the grapes in a sieve and wash them under running water
  • Pat dry with a cloth or paper towel
  • Spread the berries out on a baking sheet or plate so that they don't touch
  • Sprinkle with a little sugar to taste
  • freeze in the quick freezer for 5-6 hours

If the grapes are frozen, they are ideal for immediate use as a snack or as ice cubes in drinks. Optionally, you can transfer the fruits to a freezer bag to save space in the freezer for several months. The frozen grapes are of course not suitable for small children. Because of the smooth shell, they could get stuck in the throat.
