Useful tips for planting monthly strawberries

A sunny, warm location is essential for best growth and an abundant harvest. If you plant monthly strawberries in a nutrient-rich, humus-rich and well-drained substrate, you are exactly on the right track. Ideally, prepare the potting soil in good time so that it can sit for 2 weeks. Please also take note of the following information on correct planting:

  • the optimal soil is enriched with compost, horn shavings (6.39 € on Amazon *) or manure
  • In the bucket and flower box (€ 13.18 at Amazon *), drainage from potsherds prevents any waterlogging
  • a planting distance of 20-25 centimeters is ideal
  • Plant strawberries only deep enough that the heart bud is above the surface of the earth

If you prefer a date for planting in spring, your pupils are threatened by ground frost at night. You can effectively prevent frostbite by covering it with fleece or foil. The substrate stays warm longer under a protective layer of bark mulch.

Tips & Tricks

Only pick strawberries that are colored through, as they do not ripen. The fruits retain their aroma much longer if you leave the sepals and stems on them until you can eat them.
