Avocado - Undemanding and frugal

Avocado loves sandy, loose soils

Most avocado growers have found that their sapling does well in conventional potting soil. Soil for palm trees or citrus plants also show good results. However, the avocado loves loose, not too salty soils most. A mixture of sand and potting soil in a ratio of 1: 1 is perfect for home use, especially for seedlings and young plants. Older plants, on the other hand, tend to benefit from heavier, loamy soils.

Tips & Tricks

Instead of germinating the seeds in a water bath, you can also put them in a small pot with loose, sandy soil. Cover this pot with foil and place it in a warm but not sunny location.
